Status of the Kingdom- Pt. 1
Along the stretching stone corridors flew the chimes of the evening bells. Each note carried quite clearly from one end of the castle to the other; aided on by the many rounded hallways carefully constructed for this very purpose. The rebounding sound startled many of the birds who tended to hide in any warm, unattended place to build their nests away from the typically chilly outside air. Some resisted and firmly refused to give up their roost against the ever present chiming for they had become accustomed to this particular clamor. Yet today even those battle-hardened birds took flight at the arrival of another echoing uproar; this one quite unfamiliar to any of them.
"Do your masters still feel the need to change the customs every time one of us visits their fine court? I surrendered my armor to you out of respect for the Four Lords. My right hand blade I surrendered as a sign of fealty and trust, a sign the Knights have always freely given to those we share this country with. Yet n

Ranmyaku Garandou is the leader of a band of "pirates" that plague the land of Kotengu and captain of her own vessel, the Mononoke (Specter). She began life as a samurai serving the Empress of Kotengu and joined their main military branch just as the war with their neighboring country Aidespar was beginning. Ranmyaku's unit was sent in on a scouting missing into enemy territory only to find themselves in a town whose reality was warped so far that the skies were cast orange and teal. They were ambushed by a horde of demonic creatures with Ranmyaku escaping into the woods in a severely injured state.
She escaped the demons but found herself snared in a hunter's trap and unable to free herself due to the injuries. As she lay in the forest immobile for hours the ground became tainted as the same Chaos that infected the village spread over the land. This

It was in the moment of that sickening realization that I realized suddenly that I was not alone in that room anymore. Looking up towards the doorway I saw the store owner standing there; the bloody apron still draped over her dress. I could not clearly see her eyes for several strands of hair had fallen in front of them, vaguely reminding me of Constable's own eye curtain. Her knife wasn't anywhere to be seen, which I took as a good sign. At worst it appeared I was about to get a lecture and lose my status as "good dog" in the eyes of one more human. Which I could easily live with. It wasn't until the unnaturally melodic giggle that I knew I was in far more trouble.
"Silly doggie. Mischievous doggie. You know doggies like you shouldn't be playing around in places like this right? You've been very, very naughty..." I found myself quite unsure which disturbed me more, her slightly disembodied speaking voice or that unnatural quivering her hair was doing.
As the wom

Only the rhythmic rattling of an overhead fan and the occasional clink of glass resounded in the bar that morning. Even though the blinds were drawn tightly shut small rays of light managed to penetrate through and provide a small form of illumination. Several tables filled the floor with chairs turned upside down upon their faces, each one arranged symmetrically as though on display at an art gallery. A row of seven chairs in the very back sat as a center piece to this unusual exhibit; lined up directly in front of the serving bar for customers who preferred to watch their drink being made. Or for those who wished to have a direct word with the host.
One of these chairs was currently marked for this purpose; a long brown coat signaling the seat's state of occupation. Despite being at the far end of the bar bits of light still managed to provide a miniscule form of illumination for the man seated there. It allowed him the momentary distraction of reading the ingre

Fleeting rays from dusk's glory illuminated the forest outside the steel carriage's window, albeit hard to tell one tree from another as all the green blurred into one amalgamation. Hanging slightly out the window and letting the wind pass over me with its cool caress always made the trip go better. Although hitting my head squarely on the window top for every pothole the Master managed to hit stole some of that pleasure. After the third round of this I withdrew my head and growled at him.
"Are you still half asleep? Most people try to at least go around the sunken earth, rather than intentionally put themselves through a carnival ride from hell."
The only response I received was a hand on the head with a small scratch on the right ear, followed by the usual cajoling manner.
"Easy Reaver, just try to take it a little while longer. Be a good boy and don't growl in my ear while driving, unless you want me to hit more of these blasted craters."

Personality/Background: Perhaps one of the oldest Apthemites in existence, Alieta was also one of the most powerful. Quickly ascending to a matriarchal role in keeping Apthemy society organized she heralded a relatively peaceful millennium, until the corruption of Apthemy (which happened perhaps once or twice a decade) suddenly became a mild epidemic. Alieta used her powers to contain and purify many of those affected but doing so made her personally vulnerable. Shortly after Alieta herself was completely over taken by the corruption and became a malevolent force unrivaled by any other. The transformation turned the once kind and wise Alieta into a mind filled with dire schemes and frightening powers of manip
A Mother's Love: 1
In a cave in the northern regions of Sthreldrum, a drakenum, in her human form, slumped to her knees before the blood-drenched nest of clothes where her hatchlings once rested. They were her babies. Her darlings that she brought into the world through a father that had been slain by a dragon-slayer weeks back. She had not expected for a creature to get past her obstacles in the front of the cave to come in and slaughter them. No bodies were there and by the horrid scent, she knew it was a basilisk that had devoured her hatchlings.
Her long, snow-white hair draped in front of her chest and covered most of her reddened eyes. Tears slid down her brown-skinned cheeks from her blue eyes with no pupils within. She couldn’t even make a sound at the moment as her gaze remained on the blood. She could smell her babies. It made her gut clench and eventually her breathing became rapid. Consumed in sorrow, she remained like a statue on the flo
THE THINGS WE GAIN (CHAPTER 4)
Mikey closed his eyes as he slipped the noise canceling headphones over his ears. Everything was going great. He’d let himself into the studio and had immediately gone to see if anyone had donated any money while he'd been away. Last night he'd thought a head, placing a small jar under the mail slow so any coins that were dropped in would not roll away and miss being collected. his faint smile had become a wide grin when he'd found that the jar was half full; and after pouring out the money and counting it his smile had become even wider when he'd found that he's raised almost $200 since taking over the station 3 days ago.
Taking a deep breath Mikey watched for the equipment in the booth to finish warming up before starting; pressing the green button to start the broadcast. "What's up Lairsy College? Once again it is I, Michelangelo; your lord and master of the airways. Just wanted to give a brief shout out to everyone who dropped off money to the st
